Curlew – Birds, Boats and Fishing is a 2.5 acre property with lake frontage to Curlew Waters.
Curlew Waters is one of the three lakes in the Lake Cargelligo area. An “Oasis in the Outback” the wetland system is channeled by the Lachlan River flowing into the “Sheet of Water” then “Curlew Waters” and finally into the main lake “Lake Cargelligo”. Curlew Waters is the deepest of the lakes and offers a beautiful yet quiet location for your leisure including Water Sports, Canoeing, Swimming, Fishing and Birdwatching. Just an ideal spot to relax in general.
Wake up early and enjoy stunning sunrises and listen to the tunes of nature. Enjoy views of birds out in the water such as fishing Pelicans, Great Crested Grebes, and Great Egret. In the Gum trees on the block and surrounds watch out for Mallee Ringneck, Apostlebirds, Little Friarbird and Grey-crowned Babbler. In the shrubby salt bush and lignum areas keep your eye out for Purple-backed Fairywren and listen out for exciting birds that sometimes fly overhead: Cockatiels, Superb Parrots and Major Mitchell’s Cockatoo!
The property is situated right at the mouth of the channel that feeds from Curlew Waters into Lake Cargelligo, so if you are a fisherman you can float out on the water in your boat or just throw a line out front: no reason to go anywhere if you don’t want to! We have uploaded photos of fish caught in the lake for your enjoyment: please note we do promote catch & release and all native fish photographed were returned unharmed. Fish in the lake include Murray Cod, Golden & Silver Perch, Redfin, Catfish and European Carp.
